How clear will fingerprints be?
Fingerprints tend to get clearer with age. Having said that, we've had really good prints from young babies but have seen some older children with very faint prints. The finished item of jewellery can only be as well defined as your child’s fingerprints and, of course, fingerprints vary significantly from person to person. To ensure you get the best possible results we supply enough impression putty to take two impressions of each fingerprint and clear, easy to follow instructions to guide you through the process. You will be able to tell from the putty impression how defined the print is and we ask you to approve your prints before returning them to us. Even a tiny finger with little definition will still, at the very least, make a lovely shaped dimple for you to treasure
Is there a limit to the length of name you can engrave on your jewellery?
Usually not, although it does depend on the size of the print and the length of the name. If you've requested the name on the front of the jewellery and it won't fit then we'll put it on the back. We will always do our best to accommodate your wishes. We can also engrave age or date of birth on your jewellery.
Is there an age limit?
There is no age limit for hand or footprint jewellery as all hand and footprints are shrunk to fit onto our jewellery, from the tiniest of babies to the oldest of family members.
When creating fingerprint jewellery our impression putty method uses very soft putty and is therefore suitable for use from birth. Our alternative method of taking prints directly into the silver, is suitable from 16 weeks of age as slightly more pressure is used and younger babies' fingers might be a little delicate. There is no upper age limit for fingerprint jewellery although we recommend purchasing pendants or keyrings for adult prints as these are slightly larger.
Is all your jewellery made from Sterling silver?
Yes all our jewellery is made using Sterling silver.
How long does it take?
Because all our jewellery is made to order, by hand, there is a waiting period. This is usually four weeks, however, if you would like your item sooner for a special occasion please let us know and we will do our best to work to your schedule.
Are you able to fit adult fingerprints or hand/footprints on a charm?
Yes, if you're selecting fingerprint jewellery we recommend that you select fingerprint pendants or keyrings as these are slightly larger for adult prints.
There is no age limit for hand/footprint jewellery as all hand and footprints are shrunk to fit onto our jewellery, from the tiniest of babies to the oldest family members. This means that you can select from the entire product range.
Is it better to have my child's fingerprint taken directly into the silver clay or using an impression kit?
We provide both of these services, some companies exclusively use one method and claim it to be the best. The real answer here is that the print that is captured will be exactly the same, whichever method you choose. For convenience some people prefer to have an impression kit sent to them where they can take the impression in their own home, we then make a cast 'finger' and use this to create your piece. Some people, however, prefer to see the finger pushed directly into the piece. Whichever method you choose, the result will be the same.
I have some hand and footprint pictures done with paint already, can you make jewellery with these?
Yes, we can. You can either scan and e-mail them to us or send them in the post. If the prints are irreplaceable, however, we recommend you only send us a copy. We'll return your prints along with your jewellery.
I lost my baby and I have a paper copy of their hand and footprints from the hospital, can you make jewellery from these?
Yes, we can and feel it is a great honour to be able to do so. When you place your order, please send a scanned copy of the prints either by email or post. We recommend you send copies as we'd hate for the prints to get lost in the post.
Is there a limit to the size of image you can use when ordering a Pen to Pendant item?
The success of this type of jewellery is less about size and more about detail. We have made pen to pendant items from large images that were relatively low on detail (we shrink them first), whereas some images that are small already may be too complex and therefore don't lend themselves to the process as well. Similarly with the handwriting 'images', we can re-size sections of letters accordingly but there is a limit to the number of words you can fit on an item of jewellery and legibility of writing will not be improved in the process. If you're unsure, please send us the image along with your phone number and we'll give you a call to discuss possibilities before you place your order.
I have some precious writing in a birthday card, would you be able to use some of it to make an item of jewellery?
Yes, we should be able to. The short 'sign offs' often work best such as, 'All my love', 'Love forever'. Please send us a scanned copy of the card either by e-mail or post, include your phone number, and we'll give you a call to discuss possibilities before you place your order.
Can I order something else with the same impressions or hand / footprints you used to make my jewellery?
You can order new items with the same impressions / prints for up to 12 months from the date of your previous order as this is the period of time for which we keep your impressions or prints (unless you instruct us otherwise that is).
Simply place your new order as normal and e-mail us (quoting your original order number for verification) saying that you would like to use the same impression / prints. We will check and confirm.
I would like to order a replacement impression kit, is this possible?
If you have lost the impression kit we sent you when your ordered your item, or if you are unhappy with the impression, you can order a replacement impression kit at the cost of £3.50. This includes postage and pre-paid return postage. Please click here to order.
I would like to order some Wedding leaf jewellery but what will happen if the leaves I send die?
Due to the unpredictable nature of leaf longevity and the postal system we cannot guarantee this process. We do ask you to specify which leaf type you are sending and whether or not you are happy for us to use a replacement leaf in the event of transit damage. If you are not happy for this to happen and the leaves that we receive are unusable you will of course receive a full refund.
I'd like to order a present for a friend, what options do I have?
You can order some jewellery and when we send the fingerprint or hand and footprint kit you could surreptitiously get some prints, or you give the kit as a gift to open. You can select to Gift Pack your impression kits for free!
